 We are a small monastery and operate a small breeding program.  Mother Nature can be fickle and we never know how many puppies will be born.  


The wait time can be from 6 months to 2 years.

 New Skete puppies are socialized.  They are handled from an early age and introduced to different people and situations.  More about socializing can be found in our book “The Art of Raising Your Puppy.”  They are not house (potty) trained.

 At present, the cost for a New Skete German shepherd puppy is between $4,700 and $5,500.  This is subject to change without notice.

When an adult dog is retired from the breeding program, he/she is then placed in a loving home for the rest of his or her life.


The breeding program at New Skete is small and the availability of retired adult dogs does not occur often.

At present, the cost for an adult New Skete Shepherd is between $8,500 to $12,000.  This is subject to change without notice.


Adult dogs have completed the New Skete Dog Training program.

At this time we are not accepting adult dog applications.

Tips for applying

  • All applications must be submitted online.
  • There are no "trick" questions or right or wrong answers on the application.  We ask for your contact information, ask you to tell us about your home, your experience with dogs, what you are looking for in a New Skete German Shepherd puppy, and just a few more questions about the care and training your puppy will receive.



Instructions on Applying


  1. Check this webpage often for the application.
  2. When the monks are accepting applications, you will be required to read a short letter and submit your contact information.  In the letter (first portion of the application request form) is a passcode you will need to use to complete the request.)   If you use the wrong passcode, your application request will be denied.
  3. A copy of your request will be sent to you.  If you do not receive it please check your spam folder.  After we review your request and determine you have used the correct passcode, we will email you a link to the application.
  4. The program we use creates an automatic database.  You will only be able to complete the request one time, as the form is set to identify email addresses to prohibit duplicate requests during one application period.

Do you have a puppy currently under the age of a year and a half? 
If yes STOP here!

We are not accepting applications from people that have puppies under the age of a year and a half.  Please apply during the next application period when your puppy is over 1.5 years old.
 

Terms of Application:

New Skete accepts applications for puppies periodically during the year.
We accept  a limited number of applications.
The application must be completed and submitted online.

The Monks of New Skete reserve the right to decide whether to place a puppy in a home for any reason, and to change the terms of its application at any time, without notice to the applicant. 

We are not accepting applications at this time. Please check back frequently.
