The Art of Living with Your Dog Seminar

The Monks' Philosophy on Living Intentionally with Your Dog

We thoroughly enjoyed the "Art of Living with Your Dog" conference.  Thank you for the depth of knowledge and understanding which you made so readily available to us.  Thank you for your gracious hospitality.  We felt entirely welcome and at ease.  Thank you for all the hard work and logistical considerations that resulted in a seamless, well-coordinated conference.  Thank you for the preparation that went into the excellent presentations.  And thank you for feeding us so well!

Your friends in Kentucky
Gwen & Richard

Peace and tranquility are part of the setting as well as part of life.

  • Puppy Socialization - The First Eight Weeks and Beyond
  • The New Skete Philosophy of Living with Dogs
  • How to Live Intentionally with Your Dog and to Have the Dog of Your Dreams
  • The Spiritual Dimension in the Human/Dog Relationship

Also grooming demonstrations, tour of churches and kennels, pack walk, and round table discussions.

Things to Know

  •    New Skete is located on a mountain. Please wear comfortable shoes, as there is a good amount of walking during the weekend. If you are unable to walk, do not worry, you can pull your car up to the locations we are meeting in. All buildings are wheelchair accessible.

  •  The seminar is casual. Dress for comfort. May ‘s weather in upstate New York can be iffy. Plan on bringing a jacket. We have bug spray if you need it.

  •  Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. We do our best to make certain that there is something for everyone. (Oh, and plenty of it.)

  •  We welcome you to attend church services with us. Matins is at 7:15 am and on Saturday at 8 am, Vespers is at 5 pm each evening, and Divine Liturgy is at 10 am on Sunday. No need to dress up for services, but we do ask that you do not wear shorts or tank tops.

  • If there is anything; anything at all that you need during your visit, do not hesitate to let us know.
